Cantilever tubular steel chair & armchair
Based on the principle originally designed by the Dutch architect Mart Stam and later developed by Mies van der Rohe and Marcel Breuer, this chair was revolutionary at the time of its conception in the late 1920s as it was the first chair without the rear legs. Hundreds of thousands of them were made by various Czech companies between 1930 and 1960, yet originals in good condition are hard to find due to the heavy wear they were subjected to in the places such as schools and hospitals where they were mostly used.
Our re-issue version is based on a model made by the Moravian company Mücke-Melder in the early 1930s. The plywood seats and back-rests can be stained, lacquered or veneered. The steel frame is chrome plated. Allow four to six weeks for delivery.
