The Halabala tubular chair, 1931

Jindrich Halabala – one of the most important Czech designers of furniture – worked between 1930 and 1946 as head designer for the renowned UP furniture company in Brno. In 1931 he designed a number of tubular steel chairs and armchairs – all with innovative frame styles.

This tubular chair, re-issued by Modernista in 2003 under an exclusive licence, is available with seats and backrests in leather or two styles of cane weave. The double cantilever allows gentle bouncing movement forward and back.

Dimensions: width 50 cm, overall depth 67 cm, height of backrest 87 cm
