Modernist furniture

Czech design
The first three decades of the 20th century saw great innovation in Czech furniture design. Modernista has selected some of the most significant pieces for reissue. So far our collection includes the following:

Czech Cubist chairs by Vlastislav Hofman and Pavel Janak;

Loos chair – a curvaceous chaise longue used in interiors by Czech-born architect Adolf Loos;

Halabala chairs – a series of bent wood and tubular steel furniture designed in the thirties by pioneering functionalist Jindrich Halabala;

Functionalist classics – the revolutionary cantilever tubular steel chairs and armchairs;

Foreign design
Classic French Art Deco club chairs & sofas.

Wherever possible we use traditional materials and crafts and we believe that our reproduced furniture comes as close to the real thing as possible.
