Historical house Unger in the wider centre of Znojmo

The builder Johann Unger made a significant impact on the architectural form of Znojmo. His nineteenth-century house has been inhabited by contemporary architects and given a modern look, which was awarded the best interior in 2019. The young architectural studio ORA won the jury's admiration in particular for its refined and sensitive renovation respecting the atmosphere of the house, which has "almost anti-stress effects". Barbora and Jan Horo, together with Jan Veisser, are young architects who, like Johann Unger, are shaping architecture in the South Moravian region; the context of the place where they work is important to them, and they also like to be surprised by architecture. "We found Johann Unger's house in a very well-preserved form. It hasn't changed much over the ages, most of the elements have been preserved - windows, doors, cement tiles, stucco, fittings and railings..." ORA Architects. The historic Unger House in the wider centre of Znojmo has retained much of its age-old beauty. Fortunately.

Model Dreamers loft, Vanguard, Modřany

One of the four model lofts in Prague's Vanguard project, which will offer 150 lofts in a former aircraft factory when it is completed next year, was designed by Prague-based studio Skull. They have transformed the interior from a shell & core state into a combination of modernism, futurism and functionalism. The vast majority of the apartment is open plan. An interesting feature is the rounded kitchen or the freestanding bathtub between the sofa and the bed. Modernist added a unique two-tone chaise longue designed by Adolf Loos, tubular dining chairs, an aerial armchair with footstool and an original tubular couch dressed in luxurious Sorensen leather. The interior was also complemented with handmade functionalist lamps from our workshop. Concept: Svoboda & Williams, Bet Orten. The design of the penthouse VNG 903 - Globetrotter is a fusion of (post)industrial architecture with the spirit of early 20th century modernism. The interior design is imbued with the spirit of an imaginary hero. A visionary. A time traveller. A globetrotter who follows the spiral of modernity with precise focus. But he does not live only in the past; he has the imagination and the means to co-create the shape of the future. The word "co-create" is the key to understanding the distribution of spatial functions. The large open space is the cornerstone of the definition of a loft. Movable walls and curtains allow for a flexible division of living zones without sacrificing the open airy and liberating dimension of the space. Modern futurism and functionalism are united by a fascination with clean lines energized by moving aerodynamic shapes and rounded corners. Even the palette of elemental materials is subordinated to classic modernism: metal, concrete, wood, stone and glass. SKULL studio

Wikov Meeting Room

From the beginning, the concept of the meeting room for Wikov was conceived as a nod to the values of the First Republic. All the furniture pieces are linked to important personalities or companies from this period. The basic element is the meeting table used and designed by Bata for the presentation of new shoe collections. The morphology of the table is subtly elegant and the attention is primarily drawn to the choice of walnut veneer used, finished with an oil finish. The monumental table is lightened by tubular chairs designed by J. Halabala. The rattan weave of the chairs is seemingly fragile compared to the compact mass of the table, and so the whole seating gives a balanced impression. The table top features functionalist lamps designed and manufactured in the 1930s by F. Anýž. The original table lamp stands out especially in the period interior of Muller's villa. A floor lamp designed by architect Pavel Smetana was used as an individual lighting element. The lamp can be used both for the lighting atmosphere in the room and for direct illumination of a specific place. The folding shade is an attention-grabbing detail that is eminently practical. The atmosphere of the meeting room is also enhanced by the black stained Vichr chest of drawers, which has a backlit interior and an integrated refrigerator. The functionalist oak display cabinet and coat rack unobtrusively and simply complete the whole, everything is in its place and serves a necessary purpose.
